Laura & Rob’s wedding…

This morning, I had the pleasure of showing Laura & Rob their wedding photos from their recent marriage at St Micheal’s Sandhurst and reception at Easthampstead Park.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

They had a great day and now have the delights of choosing which pictures they would like in their album…

Offering albums from Graphistudio, I leave all the choice of both pictures and quantities to the bride and groom allowing complete flexibility on their part.  This means they get the album they want rather than what a photographer wants to sell them 🙂

I hope you enjoy this sneak preview of their happy day and what we do here at Odyssey Photographic 🙂

Weddings can be fun for the guys as well! Some great shots from a recent wedding….

We all know the wedding day is supposed to be enjoyed more by the girls than the boys – well not always…

Here is a selection from a recent wedding where the guys definitely had a good time!

They all really enjoyed themselves and had a great laugh throughout the whole day – a real pleasure to be there to capture those mad moments for posterity.

These shots have had a light makeover in Adobe Lightroom but nothing other than a little tweek on the contrast and some slight colouration – oh, and the odd crop job 🙂

…and I think the girls had fun too….

The very beautiful Lizzie Tailby….

…some quick proofs of yesterdays shoot with Lizzie Tailby of Beadstobuyfor.

Lizzie makes bespoke jewellery using natural pearls and Swarovski crystals. Her designs can be seen on her website and make a wonderful alternative for brides or ladies looking to match their own colours with necklaces, bracelets, earrings and even tiaras.

As well as doing a couple of hours of pack shots, we decided to have some fun and have Lizzie model her own creations.

The slideshow contains a few randomly selected shots to highlight the fun of the session….

Home of great local Music – M:Touch, every first Friday of the month in Yateley’s Royal Oak

Enjoy great music???

The Royal Oak in Yateley is the venue for M:Touch, a community music evening raising money for local charities whilst showcasing local talent. Held on the first Friday of every month, M:Touch attracts a good regular crowd who come along to listen to great music and have a general catch up.

This is a great opportunity to get out and meet new people whilst taking in some great tunes.

February’s M:Touch was host to local group TRE – a band made up of three musicians who produce more sound than seems possible from just a trio. Tight and punchy, they kept the crowd entertained all evening with awesome covers all performed with extraordinarily powerful vocals!

TRE will also be performing at the upcoming Ignite event to be held at Wellington Country Park at the start of June…

So why not drop down next time round and enjoy The Soupthings along with Bob Woodman….

Why Hart really is the best place to live….

In the news recently was the result of a survey stating that Hart is the best place  to live in Britain.

Well after a last nights snow fall, I popped out with the camera and captured these shots. All of these pictures are in the middle of the town of Yateley – who says urban living can be boring 😉

When you look at these and think we’re less than an hour from London, sit between two motorways and only 30 minutes from Heathrow, who would argue that this is not the best place to live?!?!?!?!

Taken on a Nikon D3 and quickly processed in Adobe Lightroom, it’s amazing what a quick walk can produce 🙂

And for those of you photo techies, there’s some very interesting tone curves to get these images – a lot of take some here and put it back there!

So get out there with your cameras and capture that snow before it all melts – or at the least, take the dog out – the ones I saw were having a great time 🙂

Red Shoes

Just been working on a wedding album and thought I’d share some of the photos with you…

The bride had a wonderful pair of bright red shoes making a real opportunity for some great photos.

I just love people who have unique  ideas and bring them into their wedding – really makes for a personal day 🙂

Mistletoe Charity Ball

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

I was recently invited to take some shots for a charity event in aid of the Thames Valley and Chiltern Air Ambulance and The Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice.

The aptly named Mistletoe Wedding Dress ball gave the opportunity for ladies to get dressed up again in their wedding dresses in aid of these two great causes. At a well attended event, there was plenty of eating, drinking and dancing with entertainment supplied by a Michael Buble tribute as well as a band playing dance music. The addition of games such as ‘Air Hockey’, ‘Table Football’ and ‘miniature golf’ also made for a very fun alternative evening…

The fire place in the main drinks reception area gave a fabulous backdrop for photos as well as the large Christmas tree for more seasonal shots.

These events are a great way for charities to raise money, as all profits from any photos purchased go straight to the charity with all costs being covered by myself. So, the participants get some great photos and support the charity further by doing so 🙂

So, if you would know of anyone who might like a photographer at their next charity event, please pass on my details and we’ll see what can be arranged 🙂

Thanks for reading…

Dave

Re-Touching some old favourites…

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Just had 5 minutes to quickly do some retouching on some old favourite shots with the lovely girls…

If you’ve got any comments, I’d love to hear them – if not, hope you like the changes 🙂

All changes undertaken in Lightroom which still blows me away – great piece of software!

Enjoy 🙂

…when friends drop by…

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

OK, so they didn’t quite drop by, we’d talked about doing a shoot for a few weeks but it wasn’t exactly planned either.

As the weather was bad we opted to stay inside.

Utilising a black cotton twill backdrop, 2/3 lights, a coffee table, a little make up and a mixture of ‘Train’ and ‘Incognito’ on the stereo, we spent a couple of hours and many costume changes having fun.

The results above show just what you can do with limited resources – oh, and two very attractive willing volunteers.

We had one light behind and off to one side as well as one/two lights out front varying their power depending on the poses.

The girls were great and really enjoyed the session – as we kept reviewing the images on the PC as we went along, they could instantly see the results and adapt accordingly.

We even spent some time looking at composition angles and colours and how well they work together so it was a learning experience for all!

So next time it rains and you have some spare time, why not get some friends over and have some fun?!??!

Enjoy

Dave
